We have a cat who currently lives with us, her name is Pepe. I don’t know how to spell it right, but that’s probably not that important. The cat belongs to my roommates who are moving out, so I won’t see that much of her any more, but regardless, she does some really funny shit sometimes:
For some reason, she really likes to hang out in our room, she has designated spots where she likes to sit, etc. Usually we close the door to our room at night, and if Pepe wants to get out (or in), she “knocks” on the door. The ultimate display of cat intelligence was the other night, when she wanted to get out of the room, but I was dead asleep / comatose because I had taken Flexeril. Pepe was apparently mindful enough that if I was awake I would have gotten up and opened the door for her to get out, but since I was asleep, she chose to instead jump onto the bed, and instead of making cat noises or something to wake me up, she actually gently bit my hand, just hard enough that I would wake up, but not so hard as to hurt.
Even after this happened, I still wasn’t aware that this was to get me to open the door… I honestly didn’t expect this kind of forethought from a cat. Only the repeated “knocking” after I had woken up got me to realize what she wanted, but honestly, I think Pepe has very good communication skills.
